EXHIBITIONS

The 4 Elements photography exhibition
From Saturday, Clyst House, Winslade Park, Clyst St. Mary, Exeter
This theme offers fresh insights into one or more of the four elements, earth, air, fire and water. The Elizabethans believed that all 'matter' was composed of just these 4 elements. Whilst understanding has progressed since then with the discovery of the periodic table, they were long-held beliefs, going back to ancient civilisations. Fast forward a few thousand years and this exhibition offers the opportunity to explore, visually, the multi-faceted nature and power of the 4 elements. The exhibition runs until 1 March. Open 10am-3pm daily, free.  www.thephotographicangle.co.uk/exhibitions

Commemorating the First World War: Comforts for Soldiers
RAMM, Queen Street, Exeter
Queen Mary led a drive on the home front to knit warm woollen garments, ‘comforts’ for those on active service. Surviving garments are rare, and this small display showcases objects from the museum’s collection. Patterns and advertisements are shown alongside a part knitted pair of socks, as well as examples made from the original instructions.  The exhibition runs until 17 May. http://rammuseum.org.uk

The Beauty of Light on Dartmoor
