Bee creative at Devon Wildlife Trust’s family fun day

Devon Wildlife Trust is inviting families to ‘bee creative in the garden’ at a special wild bee family fun day next week. On August 3, the charity will be opening the gates to the Cricklepit Mill wildlife garden for a family event that aims to celebrate bumblebees and solitary bees, heroes of the pollinator world. Children will have the chance to create a range of bee themed craft items, including alder bees to hang in the garden, bee mobiles, badge making and bee jewellery. Robert Lindsay announced for Northcott Anniversary Gala

Exeter Northcott Theatre has announced that acclaimed actor Robert Lindsay will perform in its 50th anniversary gala in November.

Robert is an Olivier-winning actor known for his acclaimed performances both on and off screen, including appearances with the Royal Shakespeare Company, as well his role as the hapless dentist Ben Harper in BBC’s My Family.

Gravesend singer-songwriter Jash will be paying local schools a visit later this month, as he tackles the subject of discrimination and online safety head on.

With 17 dates lined up over 11 days, Jash is keen to perform to thousands of young people across the country before sitting down to open up about his personal experiences of cyberbullying and discrimination.

Exeter Punks Picnic is a three day music event taking place in August. Organised by Old Hat Promotions, this is the first year such an event has been held in Exeter.

The event will span three days, (18th-20th August) and two venues - the Barnfield Theatre and the newly reopened from fire damage Cavern Club.

There has been a surge of sales for next weekend’s 11th annual Lapstock Music Festival in Mid-Devon as disappointed Olly Murs fans search around for alternative entertainment on the same date after the singer’s Powderham gig was called off.

Lapstock organiser’s reported one sale of 15 tickets from a hen party who were due to have some fun at Powderham.

Budleigh Salterton Male Voice Choir Concert supports Devon Air Ambulance

Budleigh Salterton Male Voice Choir are delighted that they will be performing at Exeter Cathedral on 5th August at 7.30pm in support of Devon Air Ambulance, who are celebration 25 years of service.

Olly Murs concert cancelled

Thousands of Olly Murs fans have been left disappointed after it was announced that his concert at Powderham Castle next weekend has been cancelled.

Event organisers, Stephen C Associates Limited, has gone into insolvency and is now expected to go into liquidation.

The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Proms event which was due to take place on Sunday 30 July has also been cancelled.
