Budleigh Music Festival strikes emotional chord with concertgoers

From the opening notes of the community choral day to the uplifting finale of the London African Gospel Choir, Budleigh Music Festival celebrated its 20th anniversary in style.

Taking place in the beautiful St Peter’s Church, the festival delivered world-class classical performances, inclusive community events, and stunning moments of musical magic.

More than 3,600 tickets were sold over the nine-day Festival, which included performances by Sir Michael Morpurgo and cellist Clare O’Connell, internationally acclaimed pianist Sir Stephen Hough, and Bath Philharmonia....

Upcoming gigs at Unit 23 Live

Mihangelf Promotions is a new music promotions enterprise in South Devon putting on live music, primarily at the Unit 23 Live venue in Totnes, formerly South Devon Arts Centre, a short hop away on the train or down the A38.

The enterprise is run by music lover Mike Fraser who lives local to Totnes.

Genres of music focused on are psychedelic/space rock, psychedelic/ambient/world dance and progressive rock, though don't be surprised at the occasional reggae or folk event.

Princesshay is marking its 10th Christmas in Exeter creating a truly festive atmosphere with Christmas lights, live festive performances and even granting Christmas wishes.

The search is on to find the new Miss England

The search for the new Miss England has started.

One winner will be crowned Miss England South West in May who will then represent Devon and Cornwall in the finals of Miss England 2018. The runner up will also be sent to the Miss England Finals 2018 to represent their county.

The current winner is Therapy Radiographer Stephanie Hill from Hope Valley Derbyshire who is proudly representing England at Miss World in Sanya China.

Northern Ballet announces major national tour of children’s ballet

Northern Ballet’s original pioneering ballet for children, Ugly Duckling, is to return to stages across the country with an extensive tour throughout spring 2018. The production will run from May to June 2018, visiting more than 20 theatres. Author, Celia Moore from Longdown has released her debut novel Fox Halt Farm which her friends have dubbed ‘Poldark on a Farm.’

Celia says that her new book is romantic and powerful. Visitors are able to discover fascinating facts about the History of Magic at Exeter Library. Displays have launched in 20 public libraries across the UK in tandem with the Harry Potter: A History of Magic exhibition at the British Library in London.

The series of displays across the UK include specially designed panels which are inspired by Harry Potter: A History of Magic, showing images of rare books, manuscripts and magical objects featured in the British Library’s exhibition, as well as images of material from J.K.
