Phonic FM is Exeter's community radio, supporting many local musicians, artists, charities, thought leaders, activity groups and more. They rely on donations to keep their premises functioning in the basement of Exeter Phoenix where they host a team of volunteer DJs presenting an amazing variety of programmes and showcasing our local talent too.
To support the station, four fabulous female singer-songwriters are collaborating to fundraise as they have all had their music played on the airwaves because of Phonic FM (live and recorded). Their event is Wonderful Women Sing!
Performer Anna-Marie Waite, who also hosts a radio show said “This station is a great resource for local creatives to stretch themselves and I have really honed my skills working with them – as a presenter and a musician”.
Over the past couple of years, Phonic DJs Cathy Towers and Jeff Sleeman have interviewed all the performers and Cathy is organising and compering Wonderful Women Sing! She says “The radio station would not survive without this sort of help. These women are all fantastic performers and to have them on the same bill is a real treat”.
In a turn-table fashion, Phonic FM are handing over to the audience to do a five minute interview with each performer at the end of their set - where they get their inspiration, are you over him now, whatever you want to ask!
The show is on Sunday 7th February at the Voodoo lounge, Exeter Phoenix in Gandy Street. Doors open around 6.40pm for a 7pm start (ends around 9.30pm or soon after).
