Two Moors Festival launches 19th year
Tickets are now on sale for the South West’s biggest celebration of classical music, taking place from 11-20 October 2019. The nationally renowned Two Moors Festival, now in its 19th year, brings together world-leading musicians, remarkable venues and the next generation of talent over nine days in October, across 28 events in 15 stunning locations.
Penny Adie MBE, founder and creative director of the Festival, said: “This year’s concerts feature a complete mix of performers, from a clutch of fledgling artists to many more at the pinnacle of global careers. We would welcome all to join us in experiencing incredible music in remarkable venues.”
Highlights of 2019:
Launching this year’s festival, renowned singer and accompanist, Ashley Riches and Joseph Middleton, are set to enchant audiences with a programme of songs inspired by the migratory habits of denizens of field, forest, sky and water. Held at the prestigious Royal Albert Memorial Museum on Friday 11 October, audiences will be invited to view the museum’s complementary 2019 Migration Exhibition.
World-leading, mezzo-soprano Dame Sarah Connolly sings Gluck and Handel with the English Concert, steered by the internationally renowned conductor Harry Bicket. Held at the magnificent Exeter Cathedral on Tuesday 15 October, the concert is set to be a breathtaking experience.
Winners of the Festival’s initiative to discover, nurture and celebrate young talent, the Young Musician of the Year competition, will perform on Saturday 19 October in Dunster. These musical rising stars - Amelie Donovan, flute; Isabella Farleigh, cello; Daisy Hickson, clarinet; Ella Leonard, oboe and Rachel Stonham, violin – will inspire and move, making this an event that is perfect for music lovers of all ages.
The atmospheric Tithe Barn at Dunster hosts the Festival’s ever-popular Concert Dinner on Saturday 19 October. With high-profile young singers, Lorena Paz Nieto, soprano and Malachy Frame, baritone, performing with pianist Harvey Davies between courses of delicious food, this is an experience for all the senses.
