Fresh from cycling around Devon with a miniature pig, comedian Tony Hawks combines story-telling, stand up, musical comedy and film clips to create two hours of fun when he comes to Exeter’s Northcott Theatre next week.

Tony is a new resident of Devon having falling in love with the county when he visited it for a screening of one of his films and is delighted to be playing in Exeter.

Jenny Hogg, Exeter Northcott’s media officer, spoke to Tony about his forthcoming show:

Tony, your show at the Exeter Northcott Theatre isn't a typical stand-up show so what can our audience expect?

It's a multi media extravaganza with stand up, comedy songs, slides, movie clips and a quiz!

You recently moved to Devon, after swapping London for Dartmoor, what brought on the move and are you missing the big city?

We showed the film version of Round Ireland With A Fridge at the Exeter Picturehouse cinema, and stayed with friends nearby. My partner Fran and I fell in love with the area and ended up having an offer accepted on a house. We don't miss the big city at all!

You're very passionate about Tennis, and you famously played the Moldovian football team, can you tell is about 'Tennis For Free'?

Tennisforfree believes that not enough is done in tennis to bring people from all backgrounds into the game. We campaign for free public park courts and fund organised participation sessions for the public on those courts. Late in the year we will start operating at Heavitree Pleasure Ground. More details at www.tennisforfree.com

You also famously cycled around Devon with a miniature pig to raise money for a Moldovian charity - how was that experience?

Amazing. I talk about it in the show!

Finally, are you bringing the pig to the Exeter Northcott Theatre?

I had to give the pig back to the farm I borrowed it from. But I will ask!

Tony Hawks is at the Exeter Northcott Theatre on Sunday 9 March. (But don’t expect the pig...)

Tickets are priced at £16 with a £2 discount for concessions. The show is suitable for over 12s and the running time is two hours.
