Disney's award-winning musical The Lion King is set to return to London's Lyceum Theatre in July.

Since the premiere of the internationally-celebrated stage production on Broadway in 1997, the live stage adapation has entertained more than 100 million theatregoers worldwide.

Based on Disney’s original piece of art, The Lion King musical revolves around the upbringing of Simba, the lion cub along with the betrayal of Scar, Simba’s uncle in order to overthrow Mufasa, Simba’s father from the king’s position. When Simba was born, things were made clear that he was the next king and the heir to the throne. But Scar, clouded with rage and jealousy promises to get anyone out of the way from taking what he believes is his; the throne. Scar then starts plotting a way to get rid of Mufasa by killing him and soon becomes the Lion King.

The musical capsulizes the unfortunate beginnings for Simba, to how he reaches his leadership position through his eloquence in music. It then follows the intense decisions Simba has to take in order to bring down his uncle who has taken the position of The Lion King by force, and reestablish harmony for his father’s realm. The scene is set in the Lion’s Kingdom grasslands where Simba is a little cub, following the footsteps of his mother and father and roaming around the valley in the land, sometimes playing with his friends in the fields until one-day destiny presents a misfortune to him, and he observes his Uncle betraying his father, leading to his death. Simba, utterly heartbroken from his father’s loss at such a young age, decides to leave the valley and seeks shelter in the outskirts of the town, when one day destiny calls upon him to set things right, recover the lost honor of his dad and be the true king he was destined to be.

Disney's The Lion King Musical is a rollercoaster of emotions, fun and adventure with a story that will move you. It takes you through Simba’s journey from being a little cub to developing into a well groomed leader possessing the skills to be a king one day. The musical will explode with glorious lights and colours, mesmerizing stunning effects along with heartwarming enchanting music that will certainly leave you in awe. Directed by Julie Taymor, this Lion King musical will redefine your expectations and raise the bars of a theatrical show.
