Being connected has completely transformed the way we do so many things, from getting around, ordering food to even how we bank and communicate with others.

It’s also vastly altered some of our favourite hobbies and how we interact and enjoy them. In some cases it’s certainly not for the better. But in others it really has revolutionised our favourite things for the better...

Bingo

One such thing is bingo. It’s fair to say that the bingo halls of yesteryear fail to appeal to a younger generation, despite the game being loved by all ages. However, top rated online bingo sites nowadays are putting a completely new twist on the game with many different variations as well as bonuses, themes and more.

There are hundreds available to play online and you’ve absolutely no need to travel. You really can call house from inside your house!

Shopping

Shopping is another which has really transformed how we enjoy this hobby. It has had a detrimental effect on the high street, but for consumers it makes life easier, cheaper and gives you the ability to shop around, without getting wet, having to take public transport or climb different levels to find the item you’re looking for.

You can search for the item you want, browse many different sites in which the item is stocked, choose the size you need and have it delivered directly to your door. What more could you ask for?

This is going to become even more exciting with the introduction of augmented reality, which will allow you to place items artificially in your home, as well as operating as a virtual dressing room.

Video Gaming

We’ve all seen the huge rise of games such as Fortnite, making millionaires out of teenagers, and that’s all because of how it’s shifted online. Bigger communities are being formed and friends are being made all over the world, whether it be through playing games like Fortnite, or even the FIFA franchise.

It’s a far cry from the FIFA games on the SEGA Megadrive, with gaming now bigger than ever before because of it.

eSports have become a big part of it, with the best games now filling stadiums, where only a few years ago it would have been a few kids in a bedroom.

Watching TV

Even the simplest of hobbies, watching television, is completely unrecognisable to what it was just a few years ago.

We once needed TV Choice to tell us what’s on, but now we can watch live television from our phones, tablets and all the while pause it, watch from the beginning or catch up later.

Being able to watch online has opened up an entirely different way of watching TV, to the point where it will never be the same again.

The likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime are seeing a bigger market share than ever before and even the likes of the BBC and ITV are putting more emphasis on their online catalogues to keep with the times.

For consumers, that makes the hobby easier to enjoy than ever, being able to watch our favourite shows anytime, anywhere!
