Don’t miss out on all the family fun of Marina Day in Torquay on Saturday June 9th. It’s a big celebration of marina life with lots of activities out on the water, displays along the promenade and live entertainment.

The idea of marina days began in America in 2001. In 2015, British-based marina group MDL began holding them at their Saint Carles site in Catalonia. Within two years, the fiesta had spread right across Spain and is now set to hit the shores of the UK.

Organiser Mike Smith, manager of Torquay Marina, said; “Following the success of Marina Days in the past, we are really looking forward to our first Marina Day based along the promenade in Torquay. It’s set to be a brilliant family fun day out.”

“We want our neighbours in the community to get a taste of all the terrific watersports we enjoy here in Torquay, as well as the social side of marina life. There’s always a busy calendar of events at the marina, from flash rallies and summer cruises to members’ parties and crabbing competitions for the little ones.

“On the day, we’re supporting the fundraising efforts of the 2Mikes 1Boat transatlantic rowing expedition in aid of Prostate Cancer UK and the Ben Cohen Stand Up Foundation. The boys, Mike Gibbons and Mike Manning-Boot, have a target of £100k to reach and we want to do our bit to help them raise funds for these wonderful charities.”
