Devon band CaveMouth will be the supporting The Blockheads at their concert at Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum on Saturday 1 October.

The Blockheads, the band behind Ian Dury’s poetic lyrics, are famous for songs such as Hit Me with your Rhythm Stick (1981), What A Waste (1979), Reasons to be Cheerful (Part 3) (1979), and many others. Rarely off the road since the death of Ian Dury in 2000, and with Derek Hussey fronting the band, The Blockheads remain an English institution. Interest in Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, the recent biopic of Ian Dury and the musical Reasons to be Cheerful, has introduced the band to a new audience.

Cave Mouth are described by AXS Contributor, William Harrison, as “a primal lo-fi funk four-piece who sound as though they live on the wilds of Exmoor on a strict diet of roadkill, making music to keep the neighbours away and lure the foxes in. Their gritty original sound blends blues, funk and hip-hop with African-influenced tunes and mind-altering lyrics. They are fronted by Sketchy Lex on filthy guitar and vocals, Wreckless Richie on drums, Ms. Mo on funked-up bass and vocals and Mr. Duncan 'The Hook' Hook on Saxophone. The band have known each other for years having grown up in rural Devon.”

Doors open 7.30pm on Saturday 1 October for Live at RAMM: The Blockheads. Bar, standing only, 11pm finish, £20 tickets are available online
