The Big Waddle heads to Crediton and Tiverton!

The Ugly Duckling is Waddling to Mid Devon

Young audiences in Crediton and Tiverton are in for a treat, as Devon-based theatre company Above Bounds bring their hugely popular children’s theatre show - The Ugly Duckling & Other Tales – to Crediton Arts Centre on Saturday 23 September at 3pm and TCAT Tiverton on Saturday 30 September at 2pm.

Have you ever felt like you just don’t fit in? Do you think people look at you strangely? That’s exactly how the Ugly Duckling felt before he learnt one very important lesson.  Paddle off to Crediton or Tiverton and experience a children’s theatre show that tackles important issues yet will entertain and inspire you along the way. With shadow puppetry, a beautiful live musical score and heaps of comedy- this show is sure to delight the senses and inspire even the smallest audience members.

Above Bounds, which was founded by Helen Bovey and George Boundy, have been creating work for children since 2014, generating quite a buzz. Having recently returned from a successful run at the Brighton Fringe Festival and selling out venues across the South West, Helen is excited to now bring this family favourite to Crediton and Tiverton.

Talking about the show, Helen said: “I’m so excited to bring the show to two great venues in Mid Devon as part of our summer tour. The show has been really well received and is the last chance to see the show in the county, it's a fun, magical retelling of Hans Christian Anderson fairy-tales; perfect for 3-7s and all the family!”

The play is performed by Helen Bovey, George Boundy and Becky Dobson who operate puppets and shadow puppets to tell the story visually alongside narration and diverse characters. The production features original music by Emily Snee and the company and their puppets, which have all been hand-crafted by the team.

The show has been playing to sell-out audiences across the South West over the last three months and is on tour until October. Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, with project partnership from Worboys Productions and the Exeter's Bike Shed Theatre.

Catch this stunning show on the last two dates of the summer tour in Devon.
