A church in Exeter is launching a new afternoon service and is inviting people of all ages and backgrounds to come and explore the Christian faith, perhaps for the first time.

Rediscover Church in Northernhay Street, Exeter already has 2 morning services on a Sunday at 9.30am and 11.30am welcoming hundreds of people from all walks of life through its doors. They also stream live online to a local and international audience.

Now they are launching a new 2.30pm service, beginning 28th April, where there is an opportunity for people to come along and explore the big questions of life in a relaxed, friendly and informal environment with many others who are on a journey exploring life and faith.

The service will also offer a great kids programme where young ones can enjoy some fun and energy-filled activities in a safe setting.

It’s hoped that the service time will be particularly attractive to those who are already in the city centre out shopping, or those who have other activities taking place on a Sunday morning and would normally be unable to attend a church service.

Those who have never considered the relevancy of God or Christianity before are particularly encouraged to come along, as the 2.30pm service will include an interesting message series entitled ‘Jesus is…’ which will explore the foundational truths of the Bible and how Jesus can impact people’s lives today.

Each Sunday Rediscover Church offers vibrant, contemporary worship from a full band including drums and electric guitars, along with a modern, accessible and relevant message which is particularly geared towards those who have never been into a church environment.

For those who currently attend the church, many say they find comfort in being in an environment where it’s safe to ask the big questions of life. They are also welcomed into a community of people who are friendly and accepting, where your background or history isn’t judged.

Reflecting on the new service, Lead Pastor Mark Pugh said, “We’re delighted to be helping increasing numbers of people on their Christian journey as more and more are taking a fresh look at the message of Jesus. We have a really modern and attractive auditorium that holds almost 400 people but it is not big enough - so we doubled up our services around 18 months ago but now we’re needing to offer a third service in order to keep up with demand. It offers a great opportunity for people to now have 3 options to try Rediscover Church on Sundays and we’re looking forward to encouraging more people in discovering this message of hope!”

As well as its Sunday gatherings, the church runs many lifegroups across the city where people in the church can come together, meet others and build friendships and family.

The church’s programme this year also includes family fun days, big outreach events in the city, exciting activities for young children, and opportunities for relevant engagement through small groups and gatherings.

Jason Ham, Operations Coordinator, added, “We believe our faith isn’t contained to a church service on a Sunday, but it’s an overflow into our work activities, within our family and friendship circles, and throughout every part of our life. We’re so passionate about the message of Jesus and we really believe it changes lives. If you have written off Christianity as boring or irrelevant, maybe it’s time for you to give church a try because I think you might be surprised!”

Rediscover Church is an Elim Pentecostal Church which is one of the fastest growing denominations in the country.
