Isca Academy Staff Perform Christmas Panto for Students

The final day of term at Isca Academy ended on a high as staff from across the school came together to perform a festive Christmas pantomime for students.

Teaching staff, support staff and senior leaders swapped classrooms and offices for the stage, delivering an Isca-style take on classic pantomime stories.

The performance was packed with audience participation and jokes, including playful nods to school routines, busy corridors between lessons, and the traditional cry of “oh no it isn’t!”.

Students Take the Lead, QE Launches New Sixth Form Leadership Team

QE is proud to announce the launch of its new Sixth Form Leadership Team.

Appointed at the end of last term, the team secured their places by having to embark on a serious of very rigorous of interviews with QE’s interviewers; Director of Post-16 and Head of English Jo Cherrett, Head of Sixth Form Vicky Evans, English Teacher Margaret Moran Mylett and PE Teacher Chloe Smith.

The interviewers all said they were extremely impressed with the maturity and confidence shown by the group, their passion for the school and QE’s values, ‘Respect, Reflection and Resilience’.

Paralympian to coach competitive swimming squads

Exeter School is delighted to welcome Paralympian David Hill to coach competitive swimming squads this year.

David is a two-time Paralympian in swimming and triathlon and world and European medallist in swimming.

The British Champion was Team GB's youngest athlete at the Athens 2004 Paralympics and Top 10 Finisher in the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Paralympic Games.

Paralympian David said he felt privileged to add value to the coaching team at Exeter School and pass on his experience and knowledge to the next generation.

Exeter School welcomed guest of honour, alumnus and executive recruiter, Ikenna Iroche, to its annual Speech Day.

Speech Day was held on 23 September, and during the day, Ikenna gave inspiring talks to individual year groups on turning your dreams into goals, and diversity and inclusion, using his own experiences of integrating into Exeter School in the 1990s from Nigeria.

Sir Michael Morpurgo was the guest of honour at the official opening of Monkerton Community Primary School on 16 September, when guests were given a tour of the state-of-the-art facilities that children in Reception and Year 1 have been enjoying since the start of term. It was smiles all around last week as The Maynard GCSE students nervously peeled open their results’ envelopes with anxious parents watching on.

The number of GCSE adult learners across the county gaining GCSE qualifications has increased this year, despite another year of disruption caused by the pandemic.

110 learners attained their GCSE qualifications with Learn Devon this year, up by 15% from the previous academic year.
