Find World Book Day costumes for free in Devon libraries

Libraries Unlimited is partnering with Recycle Devon to bring World Book Day costume swap rails to 15 libraries in Devon. World Book Day 2026 is Thursday, 5th March and library swap rails are running from 16th February to 8th March. Customers are invited to donate outgrown, unwanted children’s costumes in good, wearable condition. Costumes will be available to take home for free!

Otterton Primary School pupils get to grips with local democracy at East Devon

Children from Otterton Primary School have been finding out what it’s like running a council.

Thirteen Year 6 students were welcomed by East Devon District Council on Friday 1 March, having arranged special activities such as debating a pretend planning application, deciding how to spend a hypothetical £5000 on community projects in Otterton and even designing the perfect councillor.

Cranbrook’s new primary school is officially opened today

Cranbrook’s new primary school will be officially opened today (26 February). The £3.6 million St Martin’s C of E Primary , which serves the new Cranbrook community in East Devon, will be officially opened by the Bishop of Exeter, the Rt Rev Michael Langrish, and the Chairman of Devon County Council, Jerry Brook at 9am this morning.

Special Event marks National Apprenticeship Week 11-15 March

Devon County Council is calling on small and medium-sized businesses to think about the benefits of offering an apprenticeship.

The Council is organising a special event at Sandy Park in Exeter on Tuesday 12 March to bring young people and potential employers together.

Businesses are being encouraged to sign up to the event to see how they could get involved and maybe find a suitable apprentice for their organisation.
