Exeter School celebrates excellent A-level results
In the year that Exeter School commemorates its 20th year of full co-education, pupils, parents and staff are celebrating an excellent set of A Level results, with a 100% pass rate.
Thirty-seven pupils scored three or more A* or A grades, with over a quarter - 26% - of all results at A*. 58% of all grades were A* or A, with 82% at A*, A or B.
Head Boy Ben Hayes scooped an A* and two As, securing his offer to read Medicine. Talented sportsman Ben represented the school in the 1st cricket, rugby and hockey teams.
Head Girl Megan Stride achieved A*AA and goes on to study Medicine at Birmingham University. A keen musician and member of the school's Medical Society, Megan was also awarded a Silver medal in the Biology Olympiad.
Musical Will Pearce scored four A* guaranteeing his place at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, where he will read Physics. Trombonist Will plays for the Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra, and travelled to Birmingham for the National Festival of Music for Youth and Serbia for Nišville International Jazz Festival.
The Marsh twins Meredith and Zachary have lots to celebrate.
Head of the RAF Section, Meredith, achieved A*AA enabling her to study Geography at Birmingham University. Zachary, the Youth MEP for Exeter and leading MUN officer in his year, has gained a place to read History at Robinson College, Cambridge, scoring three A* grades. Both were members of the Young Enterprise team which won the prizes for 'Best Trade Stand', and 'Best Overall Business', and represented the county in the West of England Competition.
House Captain Will Silver achieved 3 A* and one A grades to secure his place at Downing College, Cambridge, to read Psychological and Behavioural Sciences. Hockey player Will represented both the school and ISCA HC 1st teams and was a leading musician singing in the annual WaterAid, Choral Society and Jazz concerts.
Team GB rower Phoebe Campbell received two A* and one A grades and has won a place to study Liberal Arts at Yale University. Senior Prefect Phoebe represented Great Britain at the 2017 and 2018 World Rowing Junior Championships.
Headmaster Bob Griffin paid tribute to the partnership between pupils, teachers and parents which enabled such pleasing results to be achieved.
"We are very proud of our pupils who have secured places across a range of leading universities, respected for their teaching and research work. We wish them every happiness and success in the future."
