Calling all Gifted and Talented Children to the Socrates Society
Okehampton Primary School have recently held a number of workshops to provide challenging thinking opportunities for gifted and talented children, these were open to Key Stage 2 pupils gifted in Maths and English.
During the Maths workshop the children built 3D models focusing on triangular numbers and developed team working and team building skills. The English workshop focused on the poem by Christina Rossetti - Goblin Market – and involved story telling, drama and the children wrote and framed their own poems.
This term they aim to further develop the workshop programme significantly through the new Socrates Society.
Okehampton Primary School are holding a series of workshops tailored to meet the needs of Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 pupils with the aim to bring Gifted & Talented children from across the county together so they can learn from each other and work alongside like-minded individuals.
The Socrates Society will be holding workshops which will cover Maths, English, Science, Geography, Art, and Music.
The workshops will all be delivered by specialist outstanding teachers and the Socrates Society have also been fortunate to have David Lawerence Jones author of the brilliant Bradley Baker series delivering a workshop to share his wealth of knowledge and experience with the children.
