New look for Exeter School as pupils return for the Autumn term

Exeter School has had a busy summer while the pupils and teachers were on holiday.

A major programme of building and refurbishment has been completed, to bring the facilities right up to date just in time for the new school year which starts today (4 September).

The Sixth Form have a completely refurbished and extended centre, complete with study and seminar rooms, a lunch facility and new furnishings. The Music School has been rebuilt and expanded by 50%, with a new hall and many new practice rooms. Two new classrooms have been built for the Science and Maths departments.

The Dining Hall has been increased in size by 50% and remodelled, and the School now has a newly-equipped kitchen. An exciting new Art studio has been built, creating a fully integrated Art department in one block.

Finally, the Sports Hall has been augmented further with the completion of a fully-equipped free-weights gymnasium, to complement the existing modern Fitness Suite.

This large programme of work, costing well over £1m, reflects the Governors’ wish to capitalize on the outstanding academic success of the School, by confidently investing in the material aspects of the School.

Headmaster Bob Griffin said: “By continuously enhancing our facilities, we are meeting the challenges and high expectations of our pupils and parents into the future.”
