Hospiscare has been getting in the Christmas spirit with the help of children from across Exeter, Mid and East Devon.

Children from the Exwick Ark Nursery, Little MarVals in Pinhoe, Little Dragons at Clyst St George, Exeter Junior School and Kiddi Caru have been busy making snowflakes to decorate the charity’s Warehouse Store in Marsh Barton.

Macmillan Cancer Support has revealed that in 2016 it gave out grants totalling approximately £124,8001, to Devon residents who were struggling with the financial hardship that cancer can bring. Across the south west region, the charity provided just over £849,3001 in grants to help keep cancer patients financially afloat last year. The staff from the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust has been supporting CLIC Sargent since 2008 raising £23,927.52 for young lives vs cancer through the Pennies from Heaven Scheme.

Over 4000 members of staff from the trust took part in the Pennies from Heaven Scheme, which meant that their wages were rounded down to the nearest pound with the pennies being donated to CLIC Sargent. CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading provider of support for young cancer patients under the age of 25, and their families.
