Cumberland Grange care home in Exeter recently presented Honiton Carers Support Group with a cheque for £1,000 to support towards the cost of transport to enable their participants to attend the group. Honiton Carers Support Group is a warm and welcoming Carers Group which supports unpaid carers throughout their caring role and beyond. A group of six first-year theology students from the University of Exeter are set to play against eight celebrities, led by Robbie Savage to raise money for Sport Relief.

The public can watch the team play Friday 23 March from 7.30pm on BBC 1, or listen on BBC 5 Live.

Late night winter runs in the blistering cold and freezing rain couldn’t stop Jack Warne, 28, from Willand, who was determined to run the Bideford Half Marathon in aid of The Wave Project.

Jack, who grew up in Devon and recently graduated from Exeter University, now works as Marketing Executive for QuayClick, a digital marketing agency based on the Quay in Exeter. With the support of his friends, workplace colleagues and family, Jack was able to smash his fundraising target, raising over £250 for The Wave Project.

Charity auction to fix a leaky school roof in Mumbai

A Charity Auction will be held on 17th April at The Canopy in South Street, Exeter to raise money to fix the roof of a school for children living in the slums of Mumbai.

In October of last year Daniel Hiller, director of Vision ICT, worked with SlumAid and volunteered at a school in Sion, South Mumbai which was set up by the local charity Lok Seva Sangam (LSS). A local pub has raised a fantastic £510 for local people with brain injuries following their Christmas draw.

The Ashill Inn in Cullompton decided to support Headway Devon following the experiences of two of their regular customers, Anne and Dave Brummitt. The couple have been supported by the charity after Dave sustained a brain injury in 2016. When Neil Brown, aged 53 from Dunkeswell, started swimming regularly at the age of 28 he had no idea how large a part of his life it would become. Neil’s mum originally suggested he take up some form of exercise to keep fit, but swimming lengths at his local pool in Honiton has become something of an obsession.

Exeter Deaf Academy, one of the official charity partners for the Monster Race, are delighted to have families tackling the muddy challenge this weekend, raising funds that will make a real difference to young deaf lives.

The Exeter branch of RGB Building Supplies is continuing its fundraising for Children’s Hospice South West with an Easter competition.

Between Monday 12th March and Monday 26th March, the branch is inviting customers to make a donation and guess how many mini eggs are in a tub for the chance to win a Marvellously Magnificent Easter egg from Thorntons.
