Cumberland Grange care home in Exeter recently presented Honiton Carers Support Group with a cheque for £1,000 to support towards the cost of transport to enable their participants to attend the group. Honiton Carers Support Group is a warm and welcoming Carers Group which supports unpaid carers throughout their caring role and beyond. A Devon woman running her first half marathon in aid of Just 4 Children’s Oscar’s Happy Feet has seen her fundraising effort boosted by a housebuilder’s charity fund.

Kerry Vandenbrouck, of Paignton, scooped £1,000 towards her target thanks to the Persimmon Homes Community Champions initiative. The match-funding scheme seeks to support groups and charities working to improve the quality of life or environment across the region.

Some visitors of Devon County Show may be arriving by tractor, horse or traction engine over the next few days, but could soon be driving around in a brand new sporty Kia car. Local charity Living Options Devon has teamed up with Marsh Kia to give people the chance to win a brand new Kia Stonic. This year will once again see Hospiscare teaming up with local residents who are gladly opening their gardens in support of what is now a favourite staple in the charity’s calendar. This year, Hospiscare Open Gardens is entering its fifteenth year and to date has raised the awe inspiring amount of £227,000. A charity that supports children and young people who have lost a parent while serving in the British Armed Forces has received a £1,000 windfall from Barratt Homes in Exeter.

Scotty’s Little Soldiers has become the latest recipient of the housebuilder’s new community initiative.

The Barratt Homes Community Fund donates £1,000 each month to a charity or organisation and the new scheme is part of the company’s pledge to strengthen its ties with the areas in which it is building new homes.

Monday saw Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life team with the help of cancer survivor Lyndsey Balsdon, Snap Fitness, and Starbucks, paint the town pink across various locations in the City of Exeter.

Saturday 6 July will be a BIG day in Exmouth for local charity Hospiscare . Exmouth and Lympstone Hospiscare will be holding their Family Fun Day at Manor Gardens from 10am – 4pm with live entertainment and lots of fun activities.
