Exeter charity launches free "Joy Rides" to help people get cycling again

Ride On is launching a new, free cycling programme aimed at beginners, people returning to cycling after a break, or anyone looking for a sociable ride to help them get back outside this summer.

Called Joy Rides, the sessions launch on Saturday 18 July and run weekly through to September, alternating between Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings to fit around work, family, and shift patterns. Each ride follows one of three easy, mostly traffic-free routes around Exeter Quay, the Exe estuary, and Topsham, led by trained ride leaders and open to all abilities.

An Exeter woman has cycled 600 miles to raise money for the charity which helped her on the road to recovery following treatment for cancer when she was a teenager.

A team of cyclists from National Highways have completed a gruelling 251-mile bike ride over 24 hours to raise funds for two mental health charities.

On June 23rd/24th, five members of the company’s South West team safely navigated the 251 miles on winding and hilly roads from Penzance in Cornwall, through Devon, Somerset and South Gloucestershire, to Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire.

Bradfords Building Supplies has donated £10,000 to men’s health charity Movember after smashing its target of 50,000 views for its Men’s Health Week video. More than 185,000 people saw the video message to check in on a mate over the course of the awareness week (13-19 June 2022).

The Nello, FORCE Cancer Charity’s iconic annual cycle ride, returned in style on Sunday.

The Co-operative Bank has given £200 to Kenyan Educational Sponsorship community group which is dedicated to helping young people in Kenya achieve their academic potential, enabling them to realise their ambitions and make the most of their lives. Two University of Exeter students have set off on an epic 2,000 mile sponsored bike ride to Greece.

Jeremy Daubeny and Lottie Hinton have embarked on the 10-week trip to raise money for the Brain Tumour Charity and Motor Neurone Disease Association.
