Exeter City Community Trust, the charitable arm of Exeter City Football Club, is stepping into a new sport as it joins a major national initiative to grow women’s rugby in the city ahead of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025.

Vranch House is a pioneering special school and therapy centre for Devon children. Vranch House was set up by Charles Vranch as a charity in 1969 and the school opened its doors to pupils for the first time in May 1971.

Exeter-based broadband company, Jurassic Fibre, has helped raise money for Devon charity Hospiscare by helping them swap Christmas trees for cash.

The award-winning telecoms company, which is currently delivering gigabit connectivity to overlooked communities across the South West, supported Hospiscare by volunteering staff members and vans to assist in the charity’s Christmas Tree Recycling fundraiser.

FoodCycle , the charity that aims to make food poverty, loneliness and food waste a thing of the past for every community, is in urgent need of volunteers. This month, FoodCycle will invest in a national recruitment campaign to try to entice more people to join them.

While volunteer roles are open to anyone who has some time to spare, the current drive will particularly target retired members of the community.

The 2022 ‘Outrun an Ambulance’ virtual event has been launched by the South Western Ambulance Charity.

People in the South West of England are being asked to rise to the challenge and support the region’s ambulance workers, by conquering the mileage an ambulance covers on an average shift while responding to people in urgent need.

It’s the third year in a row that the Ottery St Mary garden centre has raised funds for Hospiscare, in what has turned out to be an epic success with the 2021 fundraising total topping £14,700!

This is particularly impressive in yet another year where the pandemic impacted so many charities with postponed or cancelled events.
