ECFC running club celebrates 10K success

Seven members of Exeter City FC’s running club are celebrating after completing their first event as a team. All the runners - some of whom have only been running a few months - completed the AgeUK Wrap Up and Run 10K race, which started in Princesshay and finished on the Quay on Sunday, in under 70 minutes, which surprised one member, Bernadette Coates.

Exeter Family Friendly raises more money for charity

Local healthcare and protection insurer Exeter Family Friendly went to work in style on Thursday 28 March to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.

Staff members got into the spirit of ‘Wear a hat day’ by donning hats of all shapes and sizes, raising an impressive £250 in the process.

This comes just two weeks after they raised over £350 for Comic Relief; through a range of activities including quizzes, games and 80s style fancy dress.

A Devon housebuilder is set to give one regional charity a welcome fundraising boost having raised over £2,000.

Persimmon Homes South West and its employees managed to raise £2,156 by holding several fundraising activities throughout 2012 for their chosen charity the Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT).

A homeless charity aiming to set up a community in Exeter has made an appeal for volunteers and support.

Emmaus is a national organisation with many high profile supporters such as Terry Waite and the Duchess of Cornwall. More than 100 women have already signed up to take part in this year’s Starlight Walk for Hospiscare, which has a new 12k route along Exmouth’s seafront and beautiful countryside.

The walk is back for one night only taking place on Saturday May 11. The Hospiscare ladies walk usually takes place on two nights with one walk in Tiverton and one in Exmouth.

But Hospiscare has combined the walks to one venue for 2013 to maximise the amount of money raised.

Everything is ship-shape for Exeter charity Dream-A-Way

Dream-A-Way is extremely proud to be one of the chosen charities of the Royal Navy’s latest type 45 Destroyer HMS Defender.

The commissioning of the ship took place in Portsmouth on March 21st 2013 and was attended by trustees and committee members of Dream-A-Way, the charity which provides holidays and outings for people with disabilities and their carers across Devon and Cornwall.

Sponsored Sleepover Raises £23,000 for Exeter's YMCA

A sponsored sleep out in Exeter city centre on Saturday night raised over £23,000 for Exeter YMCA’s work with local homeless young people.

180 people took part in the sleep out, called ‘Sleep Easy’, battling against lows of three degrees Celsius and torrential rain. Participants included six members from the Gilbert Stephens Young Professional Network who raised over £1,000 for the charity. Gilbert Stephens were also the main sponsors of the event.

Barbies and Rockers out in force for Comic Relief at Exeter Family Friendly

Local healthcare and protection insurer Exeter Family Friendly went to work in style on Friday 15 March to raise money for Comic Relief.

Staff members celebrated Red Nose Day by wearing something funny for money with an 80s themed fancy dress, while also arranging quizzes, sweepstakes and 80s style games and videos to help raise over £350.

Team Digibug completes RockSolidRace and raises money for a client

Exeter-based design agency Digibug completed the 10k RockSolidRace challenge at the weekend.

As just a few of the 2,500 participants, Team Digibug weren't doing the race just for the fun of it (although they did enjoy it) but also raised money for one of their clients - national charity uk4u , which sends Christmas presents to troops who are overseas at Christmas and unable to be with their loved ones at that time.
