Five years ago, Dan was homeless, living in supported accommodation, and struggling with addiction and mental health challenges.

This month — the same week The Salvation Army in Exeter Temple celebrates its 145th anniversary — Dan stood alongside Majors Carl and Elizabeth Di-Palma who lead the church and charity in Exeter, to watch celebrity chef Michael Caines (MBE DL), cut the ribbon on Café EX4, a community café run by people with lived experience of homelessness, addiction, and neurodiversity.

Hospiscare launch partnership to build flagship day hospice in Honiton

To coincide with Hospice Care Week (7th-11th October) and World Hospice & Palliative Care Day (12th October), local charity Hospiscare is announcing its plans to build a state-of-the-art day hospice in Honiton. Offering patients, families and carers easy access to a multi-disciplinary medical, health and social care team in one location, the new day hospice will provide invaluable services and support for the whole East Devon region.

On Sunday 6 October 2013 supporters and volunteers from Exeter Axhayes Cats Protection Adoption Centre will be doing a charity skydive in aid of the adoption centre.

All funds raised will go directly to help the cats and kittens in our care. (150+ at current figures).

Princesshay hosts the MS Society Big Orange Drop Abseil

Princesshay Shopping Centre has partnered up with the MS Society to support people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS), by hosting the Big Orange Drop Abseil on Thursday 31st October from 12 noon until 7pm.

Princesshay and the MS Society are very keen for all to get involved and aim to raise as much money as possible. So if descending a massive 80 feet on Halloween sounds like your kind of thing and you’re over 12 years old, the centre would love to hear from you!

Exeter-based EMCAS, one of the country's leading financial Claims Management Companies, is aiming to raise over £10,000 for charity in twelve months. The business, which celebrated its tenth anniversary in August, has been raising money since the start of the financial year and, following its Back to School fundraiser last week, has already collected in excess of £3,100.

Crowdfunder.co.uk launch innovative project for Children’s Hospice South West

The team at Crowdfunder.co.uk are taking part in Children’s Hospice South West’s £50 Challenge with an aim to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

A number of businesses and organisations across the South West are taking part in the challenge to raise money for the charity. Crowdfunder have launched their own crowdfunding campaign with the initial £50 investment.

Annual Football Varsity continues to support local charities

Excitement is building for the sixth annual Mike Polden Charity Football Match between the University of Exeter Athletic Football Club and Exeter City FC on 25 September.

Proceeds from the match are given to the two football club’s chosen charities; the Adam Stansfield Foundation, which provides sporting opportunities for young people in Devon, Herefordshire and Somerset and the Cardiomyopathy Association which offers support and advice to sufferers of heart muscle disease.
