Amy tackles huge challenge to thank FORCE

Twelve months ago, Amy Martin could barely run at all after a tough regime of cancer treatment.

But on Sunday May 24, she’ll be one of 440 people lining up as part of Team FORCE at Exeter’s Great West Run.

Amy aims to raise £1,000 for FORCE Cancer Charity to say thank you for all the support she has received from them since a diagnosis of breast cancer in late 2023.

Exeter accountants cover 115 miles in charity relay ride

Keen cyclists from chartered accountants Francis Clark took to their bikes to raise money for charity by riding a relay across Devon and Cornwall.

Three teams made up of staff from the Exeter, Plymouth, Taunton, Torquay and Truro offices of the South West leading accountancy firm Francis Clark completed a gruelling relay cycling from Truro to Exeter to raise a total of £1,475 for four different charities.

Fourteen bankers spent a day lending a helping hand at Hospiscare’s Enterprise Centre (HEC) recently, before bouncing, wheeling and paddling down Exeter Quay to raise money for the local charity.

The team from RBS swapped spreadsheets and suits for Ebay and second-hand clothing to spend a day alongside staff and volunteers at the HEC, processing the donations and house clearance items which are brought to the Trusham Road site every day.

A Devon charity hosted an inaugural open day event on Saturday 28 September at its headquarters in Honiton, giving visitors an opportunity to learn more about its life-saving work.

Devon Freewheelers, which provides an emergency out-of-hours courier service, invited locals to meet the volunteer bikers and take a look at the motorbikes that are central to the charity’s efforts.
