Amy Martin during treatment for breast cancer and recently with her family

Amy tackles huge challenge to thank FORCE

Twelve months ago, Amy Martin could barely run at all after a tough regime of cancer treatment.

But on Sunday May 24, she’ll be one of 440 people lining up as part of Team FORCE at Exeter’s Great West Run.

Amy aims to raise £1,000 for FORCE Cancer Charity to say thank you for all the support she has received from them since a diagnosis of breast cancer in late 2023.

She has signed up for the 10k — the 13.1 mile half marathon option wasn’t on the cards — and admits: “I will be walk-running, but I will finish it because I am a bit stubborn and — let’s be real— I’ve...

Puss in Chutes Skydive... we did it!

On Sunday 6th October our Charity Skydive took place at Dunkerswell Airfield (Honiton) in aid of Exeter Axhayes Cats Protection Adoption Centre.

Staff and volunteers have spent months raising sponsorship and organising fund raising events such as our Puss in Chutes coffee morning and car boot sales.

They were very lucky with the weather, all that week it had rained, but Sunday was a lovely warm sunny day for our skydivers. Supporters had the privilege to watch our skydivers in action and of course they had their cameras to take lot photos of the day. Some of the staff and a...

Adoption centre launches 'Santa Paws Appeal'

Exeter Axhayes Adoption Centre has launched an appeal for Christmas.

The centre has 200-plus cats and kittens in its care, all looking for new homes. Sadly this means that many cats and kittens have to spend Christmas and New Year in the centre.

This year the Adoption Centre has launch its Santa Paws Appeal.

The idea is a simple one. They are asking that people fill a box, similar in size to a Felix cat food box with cat toys, food, treats, possibly a Christmas card. Then wrap it up and donate it to the centre.

Boxes can be taken to the centre or dropped off...

A herd of cows take to the Devon skies

We all know that pigs can’t fly, but who knew that cows can?

That’s exactly what happened last month when a group of ‘cows’ flew through the Devon skies in an event named ‘Herd of Cows from Heaven’.

The five strong team took part in the cow print tandem skydive to raise money for road safety charity; P-A-U-L-Y.

P-A-U-L-Y (Parents All United Live-saving Youngsters) was set up by the parents of Paul Bovey who was tragically killed in a car accident on 12 Oct 2012, aged 24. The driver of the uninsured car was also killed in the motor crash which happened near South...

More cats and kittens need new loving homes

Galahad and Lancelot (four-month-old male black kittens, pictured above) have been with us since August.

They are absolute little darlings, smashing boys with big personalities and great looks. You can’t beat a black cat. They really would like to go together but if you have a cat or kitten already, you could offer just one of them a home as long as they have a friend to play with.

Lulu (6 years old female grey and white cat) She's been with us since June 2013 Lulu is a sweet girl who was found wandering around lost and alone before she was brought into us. She was...
