Amy tackles huge challenge to thank FORCE

Twelve months ago, Amy Martin could barely run at all after a tough regime of cancer treatment.

But on Sunday May 24, she’ll be one of 440 people lining up as part of Team FORCE at Exeter’s Great West Run.

Amy aims to raise £1,000 for FORCE Cancer Charity to say thank you for all the support she has received from them since a diagnosis of breast cancer in late 2023.

South West kids’ teams want to bring back oranges at half-time

Children’s teams in the South West are being called on to sign up to a scheme to bring back half-time oranges to kids’ football.

The Half Time Jaffa project is calling for children’s teams around the country to sign a pledge to replace chocolate, crisps, sweets and biscuits during the half-time break with a healthier choice of snack.

Almost 200 members of the public have signed up to be a part of this sponsored sleep out on Saturday 15th March at The Guildhall Shopping Centre, Exeter.

Event organiser, Sophie Hodge, says “we are overwhelmed by the support of the community. So many people have come together to make a difference in the lives of homeless young people and I just want to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to each of them.”

Hospiscare is asking people to test their mettle at this year’s Rock Solid Race on March 15 in aid of the local hospice charity.

Hospiscare is asking people to ‘lent’ a helping hand in the run-up to Easter, by giving up a vice or changing a habit in aid of the local charity.

The Quit for a Bit 40 Day Lent Challenge launched on March 5, offering people the chance to support Hospiscare as they observe Lent.

Pancake Race for charity is a flipping success

Supporters and shoppers stopped at Exeter’s Princesshay to watch companies compete for the Pancake World Champion title today.

The Pancake World Championship is a partnership between local Event Management Company Wacky Nation and Princesshay, to raise funds for local charity Dream-A-Way, Princesshay’s charity of the year for 2014. It was hosted by Radio Exe.

Lycra-clad cycling enthusiasts are being called to take part in the second Kitsons Devon Classic Bike Ride which is supporting local charity Hospiscare in 2014. The popular bike ride, taking place on Sunday July 20, features a challenge for all cycling abilities across a choice of three routes, adding a different element to the event and allowing individuals to pick between 55, 85 and 100 mile routes. Charity run organisers call for sponsors

The region’s largest corporate charity run is calling for sponsors to boost its fund-raising for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Michelmores Charity Run, which is now in its 15th year, attracts over 1000 runners and now raises in excess of £30,000 each year for its chosen charity.
