Amy tackles huge challenge to thank FORCE

Twelve months ago, Amy Martin could barely run at all after a tough regime of cancer treatment.

But on Sunday May 24, she’ll be one of 440 people lining up as part of Team FORCE at Exeter’s Great West Run.

Amy aims to raise £1,000 for FORCE Cancer Charity to say thank you for all the support she has received from them since a diagnosis of breast cancer in late 2023.

Rock Solid Race returned to Escot on Saturday 15th March. Local charity Hospiscare were delighted to have over 70 runners tackle the 5K Dash and 10K Rock Solid race between them raising thousands of pounds. The weather beautiful added to the atmosphere of the day, a far cry from the torrential rain and hail of last year. Local businesses are supporting Hospiscare’s Easter Egg-stravaganza by raffling luxury Easter Eggs to raise money to help people living with a terminal illness in Exeter, mid and east Devon.

University water sales raise £5,000 for Hospiscare

Retail and catering staff at the University of Exeter are proud to have donated over £5,000 to local charity Hospiscare.

For every bottle of Abbey Well Water the team sell throughout their catering and retail outlets, Coca Cola Enterprises donate 5p to the University’s chosen charity/project for that year.

The University of Exeter has been taking part in the scheme for over four years, supporting various charities and projects both in the UK and Africa and have helped to raise over £12,000.

SWH were proud to present representatives from the Devon Air Ambulance Trust with a cheque for £502 last Thursday.

SWH, a multi-disciplinary contractor providing civil engineering, highways maintenance and construction services, has proudly supported the DAAT since 2008, having raised nearly £3,000 for the cause during that time. In 2011 staff voted DAAT to be SWH’s charity of choice which it has remained since.

An Exeter School pupil has been supporting the Honiton Memory Café in their efforts to fundraise and build awareness around dementia and Alzheimer's.

Sixth Former Richard Baker has been supporting the Honiton Memory Café because he enjoys helping others. He has attended some of the social events that the Memory Café runs for carers and their cared-for and is helping to publicise a charity art auction that is taking place at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery (THG) on Friday 25 April to raise funds.

A South American wine tasting evening at the Deer Park Hotel, Honiton has raised more than £1700 for Hospiscare. Wine expert Susy Atkins, who appears on BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen introduced the evening and explained why she had selected the wines. She explained their characteristics and why the specially chosen South American tapas complimented each wine.

Hospiscare trustee Nick Ag-Manning, Mark Godfery of Deer Park and Jane Clarke of Rock Mill Design put the event together to raise funds for the local hospice.

Organisers of one of Devon’s premier golf tournaments will be celebrating its tenth anniversary in style this summer, hoping to raise more than £100k for local charity Hospiscare.

Teams of golf enthusiasts are being called to putt their best swing forward at the Hospiscare Golf Day, taking place at the Exeter Golf and Country Club on July 10.

Solicitors support sizzling fundraiser for local cancer charity

On Thursday 3 April, Devon-based law firm Gilbert Stephens LLP will once again play host to the Great Devon Breakfast in aid of local cancer charity, FORCE.

The Great Devon Breakfast last year raised £10,000 across 17 different venues and the event, supported by Gilbert Stephens LLP, will be held at St Olaves Hotel located on Mary Arches Street, Exeter, at 8am.
