Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

Tiverton and Honiton MP Neil Parish joined Cancer Research UK scientists in Westminster to find out more about the charity’s inspiring new plan to accelerate progress and help save more lives in the South West.

Twenty teams of ladies from all over Devon took part in another extremely popular and successful golf day at beautiful Stover Golf Club on Thursday 3 July.

Some ladies have taken part in all previous 11 years in support of Dream-A-Way and for some it was their first visit, with many promises to return next year for our very lucky 13th golf day on Thursday 2 July 2015.

Skydive raises £3,000 for Sue Ryder

Seven colleagues from Morrisons’ Exeter store, led by store general manager Glen Allen, jumped out of a plane at 15,000 feet yesterday (Wednesday) for charity.

Sandra Mott, Richard Fleming, Nick Stevens, Ben Burton, Leanne Berry and Chrissy Carver took part in the jump at Dunkerswell Airfield.

Between them they have raised £3,000 for Sue Ryder’s vital community care and support in Devon.

Lottery success for Exeter CAB

Local Charity, Exeter Citizens Advice Bureau, is celebrating a lottery award of £9,500 from the Big Lottery Fund.

The charity will use the lottery grant funding when they move into more prominent city centre premises in Dix’s Field. The grant will enable clients to ‘do it online’. The grant will be used to fund improved IT and telephone facilities for clients, office furniture, room security and volunteer expenses.

Women in Devon are being urged to grab their last chance to enter Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life in Exeter as there are just two weeks left until registration closes.

The race takes place at Westpoint, Clyst St Mary on Sunday 27 July.

Entries will close at midnight on Friday 25 July and organisers are encouraging mums, daughters, grannies, sisters, friends and workmates who want to take part in the 5k and 10k women-only events to sign up as soon as possible at www.raceforlife.org

Exeter charities join forces for new fun run

‘Heroes & Villains’ is the theme of a new running event being organised jointly by Exeter based charities, FORCE and Hospiscare.

The 5K and 10K mixed terrain runs are sponsored by leading chartered accountants Francis Clark and will take place at Powderham Castle on 7 September through some of the most beautiful countryside on the estate.

Teams from the Exeter offices of chartered accountants Francis Clark, Barclays Bank, Ashford’s Solicitors and property specialists ES Group put their fitness and stamina to the test to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon (the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales) within 24 hours, collectively raising over £12,000 for charity.

South West Communications Group’s engineering director Brian Lodge has completed a challenging mountain climb to raise funds for two local charities.
