Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

Michelmores hosts pop-up charity art auction

In a bid to raise awareness for its chosen Charity of the Year, Macmillan Cancer Support, Michelmores is hosting the ART4MACMILLAN charity art auction on 17 October 2014.

Woodwater House in Pynes Hill will be transformed into a 'pop-up' saleroom, and fine art auctioneers and valuers, Bearnes Hampton and Littlewood will be offering their expertise for the sale of a selection of works generously donated by a number of well-known artists from Devon and beyond.

An Exeter School sixth former has helped raise valuable funds for local charity, the Devon Air Ambulance Trust, by organising a World Cup-themed charity day and raising over £3,000.

Upper Sixth Former Emily Ackland first got hooked on fund raising when she cycled from London to Paris last summer raising over £11,000 for PAPYRUS.

She said it was then that she experienced the satisfying feeling of fundraising for charity.

Golfers raise a bucket load of cash for charity

Four golfers from a South Devon golf club took on an epic sporting challenge with a difference last week to raise money for the Children’s Hospice South West.

The challenge combined a love for cycling and golf as the group from Wrangaton Golf Club covered over 220 miles by bike and played 72 holes in just four days.

Community eats their way to new defibrillator

Kingswear’s popular Manna from Devon Cooking School was buzzing on the evening of Thursday 25th September. Co-owners Holly and David Jones hosted a charity pop up supper at the cooking school to raise money to help equip the village with a community defibrillator. The well-attended event raised an impressive £600 to go towards this.

Exeter School alumnus joins summit challenge

A group of cricketers, including a former Exeter School pupil, set a new record for the highest-ever match with a lung-busting effort at the top of Kilimanjaro on Friday 26 September.

The teams, including English bowling legend Ashley Giles and South African icon Makhaya Ntini, the country’s first black Test player, and Exeter School alumnus Shripal Shah (1985 -1991), trekked to the roof of Africa before dawn and played ten overs each.

Two charities are coming together to help improve the independence and well being of more people with complex needs.

Community Care Trust, a mental health charity based in Devon, is set to join St Loye’s Foundation within a newly-formed group structure.

The move will enable the delivery of enhanced specialist support, training and employment services to more people in the future.

40-strong EDF team to take part in GWR

Almost 40 staff members from EDF Energy’s Gadeon House office in Exeter have rallied together and entered into Exeter’s Great West Run, taking place on Sunday 19 October.

The group hopes to raise £3,000 in aid of EDF Energy’s charity partner Marie Curie, with all the funds going to help Marie Curie Nurses provide more free care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes and in the charity’s nine hospices.
