Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

Go Ape go bananas for Teenage Cancer

Staff at Go Ape throughout the UK, including Haldon Forest near Exeter, went bananas to support Teenage Cancer Trust, raising a grand total of £60,000 for the charity.

Go Ape is the UK’s leading forest adventure and staff from the 28 sites across the country devised the ‘Big Banana Relay’ to raise much-needed funds for the charity. The relay consisted of a ‘Big Banana’ being transported a total of 1,823 miles across the UK with the Go Ape gorillas using the quirkiest forms of travel possible.

Exeter firms cycle to the finish to raise vital funds for local Adoption charity

National Adoption week saw local Exeter based WSP challenge fellow firm Parsons Brinckerhoff to the ultimate static cycle race to raise awareness and much needed funds to support families who have adopted in Exeter.

Over the course of a day early this month, members of both WSP Exeter, and Parsons Brinckerhoff took part in a static bike race in the centre of Princesshay shopping centre to see which firm could cycle the furthest.

WSP were the victors cycling 192km to Parsons Brinkerhoff’s 168km.

Exeter School goes Mo mad for Everyman Appeal

Exeter School staff and pupils have raised almost £1,000 for charity by growing or wearing moustaches for Movember.

Teaching, maintenance and administrative staff at the co-educational independent school have been amusing their colleagues and pupils with their elaborate facial hair to raise awareness and funds for testicular cancer and male cancers generally.

Devon Community Foundation is appealing for donations to help ensure people in our communities stay warm and well this winter.

The Surviving Winter appeal was the brainchild of someone who received their Winter Fuel Payment, realised they didn't need it and wanted to help someone who did.

Since then many people have shared their Winter Fuel Payment to help those less fortunate but also lots of others have joined in to donate funds to help older and vulnerable residents across Devon.

Skydive for charity and be a record breaker

In June next year, 333 fundraisers will jump from 15,000 feet to break the Guinness World Record.

Skydive UK Ltd is one of the biggest skydiving schools in the UK. They have started a search for over 300 brave fundraisers who will skydive for charity and attempt to break the existing record.

The current Guinness World Record for the most tandem skydives within 24 hours is 281 and is also held by Skydive UK.

“We know we can do more. We will prove this by breaking our own record, aiming for 333,” said Jason Farrant, managing director of Skydive UK.

Princesshay’s Charity Christmas Festival, now in its second year aims to raise both awareness and funds for local charities.

The Lord Mayor of Exeter switched on the 30 charity Christmas trees in a celebratory light switch on event on Friday night (21 November).

The 30 Christmas trees and their lights have been donated by Princesshay for the festival and local and national charities have been invited to decorate the trees.

Walking Home For Christmas is Walking With The Wounded’s charity event which supports our wounded soldiers.

The campaign will see thousands of people across the UK ditching the bus, car and tube and ‘walking home for Christmas’ to support those veterans who don’t have a home to walk to.
