Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

Exeter Pets at Home searches for animal charity partner

Animal rescue organisations in Exeter are being urged to nominate themselves to receive financial support from the UK’s number one grant giving animal charity, Support Adoption For Pets.

Since being established in 2006, Support Adoption For Pets has raised over £10 million and helped over 920 rehoming centres and animal welfare organisations across the UK by awarding grants and running fundraising campaigns with Pets at Home.

Rachel to run marathon dressed as a lobster

Rachel Marshall, a 39-year-old Mortgage Adviser from Exeter will be running the London Marathon on 26 April dressed as a lobster, to raise money for national deafblind charity Sense.

Rachel who has named her lobster Loulou, said: “People often ask me ‘Why a Lobster?’ and to them I say ‘Why not?’. I was looking for a costume as at last year’s marathon I felt so jealous of the spectacular response people in costumes get and when I saw Loulou I couldn’t help but smile. Other people smile when they see her too and that can’t be bad!”

ESO concert helps boost ELF funds

A refreshing start to 2015 for Exeter Symphony Orchestra.

The Exeter Symphony Orchestra performed to a full house for their first concert of 2015 on March 14th and at the start of the second half were delighted to donate £150 to the Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF).

The funds came from donations for refreshments served during ESO concert intervals at the United Reformed Church in Southernhay.

Chairman Miles Leonard presented a cheque to the Lord Mayor, Councillor Percy Prowse, who has chosen to support ELF during his term in office, and who is also President of ESO.

Staff at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital have raised £700 for Comic Relief by holding a Great Inter-Divisional Bake Off on Red Nose Day. Competition was fierce as staff from each division in the Trust – Specialist Services, Medicine and Surgery - put their culinary skills to the test and came up with all manner of baked confections for their divisional cake sales. Fourth mystery donation to Exeter’s Hopiscare shops

Hospiscare has received another mystery donation – this time £1,020 was left outside its flagship store in Exeter’s Fore Street.

The money was left in a large bag, containing a purple quilt, just by the front door a few minutes before staff arrived to open up in the morning.

Last Christmas Hospiscare, Exeter’s local end of life charity, celebrated receiving £3,450 after cash was left in two carrier bags outside its Cowick Street shop and just last month Hospiscare received another mystery donation of £140 in notes, this time through the post, to the same store.
