Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

WESC homes open thanks to £50k Foundation donation

Trustees of the Exeter Foundation and Exeter Chiefs players have helped to officially open new purpose-built accommodation for students at the WESC Foundation.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to officially open the two new zero carbon energy ‘Satellite’ Landlord Supporting Living Houses, which have been partly funded by the Exeter Foundation’s £50,000 Legacy Project.

The two new state-of-the-art properties comprise a two-bedroomed wheelchair accessible house and a five-bedroomed house for those more mobile, with the two-bedroomed house being unveiled as ‘Foundation House...

An Exeter-based charity held a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open their two new zero carbon energy ‘Satellite’ Landlord Supported Living Houses.

The event was followed by a drinks and canapés reception for VIP guests and supporters.

The Great Big Rhino Project is gathering momentum. Paignton Zoo is now inviting artists to submit designs for life-size rhino figures to be displayed around Exeter and the English Riviera in 2016.

Fantastic Fez fundraising for FORCE

The Fez fundraising phenomenon continues to go from strength to strength and has now raised a staggering £55,000 for FORCE since the campaign was launched on May 28 2014.

ELF welcomes bank's donation

Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) has received £5,000 to help fund a family suite for critically ill or end of life patients at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. The donation was provided by the Santander Foundation which offers grants to UK registered charities for projects that help disadvantaged people in local communities. ELF provides transport, accommodation and guidance services to families affected by blood cancers and blood disorders. Rugby Legend Tim Stimpson Pulls Pints for Punters at the Double Locks, Exeter

He’s enjoyed a fantastic career including time with the Newcastle Falcons, Leicester Tigers, Leeds Tykes and England, but now rugby star Tim Stimpson is heading to Exeter to pull pints for the locals.

On the 15th September, the Double Locks will be hosting a Players At The Pumps evening raising money for the children’s charity of rugby Wooden Spoon.

Volunteers from the Wilko, Exeter, Bovis Homes SW and the Cranbrook Macmillan Fundraising Group collected over £1,400 from generous Exeter shoppers in the High Street and the volunteers at the cancer information tent, many of whom were Macmillan healthcare professionals, were able to provide information to help people at a difficult time

Kitsons launch charity will scheme

Devon law firm Kitsons has teamed up with FORCE Cancer Charity to offer supporters the opportunity to make or update their Will, in return for a donation to the charity.

Through the scheme, for every new Will completed by the Private Client Team at Kitsons Solicitors in Exeter, the firm will donate a proportion of its fees for those Wills to FORCE.

Early risers raise charity cash

Several staff and friends of Exeter PR, marketing and design agency Astley Media had an early start to their Bank Holiday Sunday after offering to volunteer at the weekly Matford Car Boot Sale.

The 11-strong team helped out with everything from collecting money on the gate and litter picking afterwards.
