The charity team at Otter Nurseries in Ottery St Mary has announced this year’s charity partnership with the Baton.

The Baton is run by Alan Rowe, well known in the area for his charity work. Alan founded the organisation to raise awareness of life in the British Armed Forces and ensure ex forces personnel are given the right support when they return to civilian life. The Baton also offers practical support to those in need, on a case by case basis.

Exeter-based Rainbow Living is inviting local children and disabled adults to celebrate Mother’s Day by getting involved in a special competition to show their mum how much they love them.

All entrants need to do is design a Mother’s Day card to be in with a chance of winning an amazing Mother’s Day hamper, kindly donated by Sainsbury’s Pinhoe.

HeartSWell South West is looking for people to take to the sky and jump 10,000ft from a plane to raise money for heart patients and lifesaving equipment in the Westcountry. The 10,000ft tandem skydive can be completed in several different locations across the UK, the nearest centre being the Honiton Dropzone in Devon. HeartSWell ask the skydiver participant to raise £395 in sponsorship money in order for them to jump for free and in turn the charity will receive an average donation of £140. No, it’s an otter! Olly the Otter, the world’s newest superhero, is one of the attractions at Living Coasts this half term. 2016 is the year of Super Sea Heroes at Torquay’s coastal zoo. Staff and visitors will be celebrating with a variety of activities that include crafts, talks and a superhero trail. Children will be able to create their own superhero mask, design their own Super Sea Hero and follow the Super Sea Heroes Trail if they pick up a trail sheet from the main entrance.
