Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

Team Nads raises over £22,000 to help youngsters with cancer in Exeter

Nadia Hobbs, 18, from St Thomas, celebrated the end of her cancer treatment on 13th May with family and friends at Sawyers, Exeter.

Together they have managed to raise a staggering £22,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust, which will help to transform the lives of young people with cancer in Exeter.

Nadia Hobbs is a student at Exeter College, which has chosen Teenage Cancer Trust as its charity of the year.

Get the kettle on for Hospiscare

Help allow people to die and live with dignity by supporting the Hospiscare Coffee Morning urged broadcaster Judi Spiers.

Judi was speaking at the official launch of the local charity’s latest campaign to raise funds to help 2,200 terminally ill patients who are cared for by Hospiscare across Exeter, East and Mid Devon.

“The hospice movement is an incredible national organisation and it allows people to die with dignity and live with dignity,” said Judi. “Keep up the fantastic work Hospiscare.”

Local business people jailed for charity

Nine well known members of the business community have been ‘jailed’ at Exeter Castle and have to raise a bail of £999 for Children’s Hospice South West in order to be released.

Each ‘prisoner’ has been charged with a fictitious crime and they will be held at the castle until they raise their bail money - but they only have a few hours to ensure they reach their bail targets.

With access to phone and Wi-Fi they are relying on friends, family, colleagues, suppliers and customers to make donations to their online donation pages.

Senior police team set off on charity ride

Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer and a team of senior police riders from Devon, Cornwall and Dorset got on their bikes today to begin a 225-mile cross-border cycle challenge in aid of local charities.

The team of 20 police officers and staff from the two police forces left from Christchurch police station in Dorset this morning and are aiming to cycle to Land’s End in Cornwall in three days.

They will pedal through a county each day before reaching their destination on Sunday evening.

Fancy a peek around some private gardens in Exeter’s leafy St Leonards? Then pop along to see six gardens in Matford Avenue, Matford Road, Leighdene Close and St Leonards Road, five of which are opening for the first time.

Orchestra goes wild for charity

A Devon-based orchestra has left its usual habitat of rehearsal studios and concert halls behind to take part in a very different kind of photoshoot promoting its latest concert.

Members of the Exeter Symphony Orchestra recently went wild to promote ‘A Concert for Wildlife’ which takes place at 7.30pm on Saturday 16th July at Exeter Cathedral.

Afternoon tea raises cash for Devon Freewheelers

A tea party held in Buckerell raised over £550 for blood bike charity, Devon Freewheelers.

It was organised by village residents Jen Palfrey and Soo Sims on behalf of the Buckerell Community Association.

Over 90 people from the East Devon village, from the oldest to the youngest residents, turned out to support the event, enjoying waitress service, cream teas and a wonderful array of homemade cakes.

Fashion show raises £1,250 for charity

Local charity Rainbow Living is delighted to have raised £1,250 following a second successful fashion show, run in conjunction with John Lewis.

Over 100 guests from across the community supported the fashion extravaganza, which took place at John Lewis’s Exeter store.
