Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

An exclusive tea-party was organised by Hospiscare at Knightstone Manor and sponsored by wealth management company Brewin Dolphin, Exeter office. The seventy special guests were Invited to join The Rt. Hon. Baroness Butler-Sloss GBE, Vice-President of the charity, for a traditional afternoon English tea. Rainbow Run moves to Westpoint

Following the success of this year’s Children’s Hospice South West’s Exeter Rainbow Run, the charity is delighted to announce that the 2017 run will now take place at the Westpoint Arena!

Jayne Jarrett, events fundraiser at the hospice said: ‘We were overwhelmed with the local support for our 2016 run with nearly 1700 people taking part, and we’re so excited that we will be holding next year’s event at Westpoint Arena.

Learn about brain injury at Sidmouth event

On Wednesday 13th July, local charity Headway Devon will be holding a brain injury information day at the Sidmouth Methodist Church on Sidmouth High Street.

70/30 Campaign Promoted in Devon

WAVE Trust, a UK charity, is raising awareness in Devon with a new campaign to reduce child maltreatment by 70 percent by 2030.

More than 1 in 5 children in the UK will suffer significant abuse or neglect in their lifetime, with 90% of these receiving no support.

The 70/30 campaign aims to prevent the maltreatment of children by tackling the root causes, such as parental substance abuse, domestic violence and maternal mental health problems.

Early, effective support can help parents to overcome these problems and prevent harm before it happens.

Exminster’s ‘Outstanding’ village Pre-school commemorated its 35th Anniversary by hosting a special celebration party for all pre-school children and their families.

Children enjoyed a good old fashioned tea party, games and entertainment, and Josie Walledge, Chair of Exminster Parish Council, officially marked the anniversary by unveiling a commemorative plaque.

Devonshire Homes hands over £3,300 to Hospicare

Tiverton house builder Devonshire Homes has presented a cheque for £3,300 to Devon charity Hospiscare. The company, who have pledged to continue to support the charity in the coming year, gifted £50 for every new open market home sold since March of this year.

Hospiscare Corporate Relationship Manager, Richard Cousins was delighted to accept the cheque and said: “Devonshire Homes’ support has been outstanding,” he said.

Exeter School's LEJOG stand raises £500 for charity

Exeter School put their best wheel forward by spinning the last leg of the ambitious Land’s End to John O’Groats cycle ride they are carrying out in August.

The intrepid team cycled 199.9 miles, replicating the final stage of the LEJOG route from Inverness to John O’Groats, using three bikes on turbo trainers in Exeter’s Princesshay on Saturday 11 June to raise money for the Janine di Vincenzo Foundation and The Children's Society. They succeeded in raising almost £500 thanks to the generosity of the general public.

A team of 7 women from Bradley Estate Agents in Exmouth have signed up for this year’s Twilight Walk on the 9th July.

The 5 or 10 mile sponsored walk round Exmouth is being held to raise much needed funds for local charity Hospiscare.

Staff at a local opticians in Exeter are donning their daftest fancy dress and striking their best poses, as part of Armed Forces week. To show support for this year’s Armed Forces Week (20-26 June), Specsavers Exeter will be hosting a day of fancy dress fun on Saturday 25 June to raise money for Blind Veterans UK (BVUK).
