Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

Housebuilder's donation for sight loss charity

An Exeter charity that works with blind and partially sighted people is to invest in exciting audiobooks thanks to a leading UK housebuilder.

The Royal National Institute of Blind People has received a £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes South West’s Community Champions scheme, which sees up to £2,000 given away each month.

Nationally the housebuilder has given away almost £500,000 already this year.

Persimmon’s donation will go towards the RNIB’s Talking Books campaign, which has helped create a lifeline to the outside world for blind people for over 80 years....

Volunteering Sparks Something Good in Exeter & Plymouth

M&S colleagues and customers across Devon have joined forces in a special volunteering initiative that has had a big impact on 24 local charities.

Nine M&S stores from Plymouth to Exeter took part in Spark Something Good, which saw more than 300 volunteers give up over 2,653 hours for free, in order to make a positive difference.

Cofton Country Holidays raises over £6,000 for local charities

Cofton Country Holidays, located near Starcross, has this week handed over its latest charity cheque of the year bringing the total amount raised by staff, visiting guests and through Cofton’s charitable sponsorships to well over £6,000.

Mike Elsey of Devon Wildlife Trust and Nora, the charity’s wild beaver population fundraising mascot, accepted the latest cheque for £260.80 from Cofton Country Holidays’ Directors Mellony Kirby and Helen Scott.

Blood cancer charity DKMS is urging people from Devon to register as potential blood stem cell donors this month to help save the lives of blood cancer patients. September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month and DKMS wants to highlight that many blood cancer patients needing a blood stem cell donation for their survival never find a perfectly matching donor. DKMS says that the chances of finding a match could increase if more people registered as potential blood stem cell donors.

Devonshire Freemasons Help with the Costs of Cancer

Macmillan Cancer Support's Financial Grant Scheme has recently been boosted by a donation of £5,000 from the Devonshire Freemasons. The donation was made after the Freemason's learned of the financial struggle people are facing when diagnosed with cancer.

Team DCP raise £8,838 for Little Bleeders

On 29th May 2016 almost seventy riders from Devon & Cornwall Police cycled from Exeter to Lands End to raise money for the charity Little Bleeders.

The journey involved over 130 miles of road, with 10,000 feet of climbing.

Organiser for Devon & Cornwall Police, Sergeant Owen Messenger said: “The ride was organised as part of a charity event to raise vital funds for the charity Little Bleeders. We aimed to raise over £5000 and exceeded this massively with a grand total of £8838.02 which was incredible”.

Local Charities benefit from work of Exeter Foundation

The success of the Exeter Foundation was highlighted in all its glory as 18 local charities and organisations were rewarded at Saturday night’s Season Launch Dinner held at Sandy Park.

A grand total of over £53,000 – raised through match-day bucket and car park collections – was distributed to the charities and organisations following another hugely successful year for the charity.

Each charity was also given an extra £1,000 as a gesture of thanks for their ongoing good work that they continuously provide for the citizens of Exeter and surrounding areas.
