Vertu MINI Exeter drives support for North Devon Hospice

Vertu MINI Exeter is supporting North Devon Hospice, as part of MINI’s Local MINI Hero initiative, which encourages dealerships to actively support and celebrate their local communities.

As part of this special partnership, Vertu MINI Exeter will be sponsoring and attending two major fundraising events for the hospice this year – its recent Nightwalk, and the North Devon Marathon, which is set to take place on 29th June. Attendees can look out for two stunning MINI vehicles on display at each event, as the dealership showcases its commitment to the cause and community.

Princesshay’s Bedford Square will burst into life on Saturday 15th July, from 11am to 3pm with a Dancing in the Streets event raising money for Children’s Hospice South West.

The brainchild of talented local choreographer Mandi Cox of Vibes Dance Company, Dancing in the Streets encourages people to take to the square and strut their stuff for an incredible cause.

The headline workshop is Exeter’s very own Swagga Fit, a whole new genre of fitness class created by Mandi herself. Swagga takes inspiration from music videos, mimicking iconic dances and moves with fitness in mind...

Devon Air Ambulance’s Ride Out returns

Devon Air Ambulance’s annual Motorcycle Ride Out is returning to the Den, Teignmouth, on Sunday 9th July 2017 with an afternoon of live entertainment from 1pm. This event is free for all to attend in support of Devon Air Ambulance (DAA).

DAA have a great line up of local bands including Littermouth, Five Finger Discount, Thick as Thieves and The Rock Section, with tech provided by Big Bear Recordings.

Local couple to trek 600 miles across Pyrenees mountains

A local couple are trekking 600 miles across the Pyrenees mountains in aid of Kidney Research UK. From 4th July, Ali Reid Wolfe and Emma Thomas aim to hike from the south-west coast of France in Hendaye, crossing France, Andorra and Spain to reach Banyuls-sur-Mer on the east coast. The pair were inspired to take on the charity challenge by Ali’s brother, Seb, who suffered kidney failure as a teenager.

Haven are thrilled to announce that Devon Cliffs Holiday Park in Exmouth have donated £5,144 through the sales of 5p carrier bags in Kent.

Haven has been working in partnership with the Marine Conservation Society since 2016 to help protect the shores and marine wildlife in the UK. Devon Cliffs Holiday Parks’ donation contributes to an incredible £45,000 donation from the sales of 5p carrier bag across Haven’s 31 coastal holiday parks in England and Scotland.

Budleigh Salterton Male Voice Choir (BSMVC) will support Devon Air Ambulance (DAA) in celebration of their 25th year of service with a gala concert at Exeter Cathedral this summer. The concert, at 7:30pm on Saturday 5th August, will feature BSMVC, directed by Michael Graham, performing a mixture of popular and traditional songs from their wide repertoire, set to entertain a broad audience. Local adoption charity launches the Atrium

Families for Children, local adoption agency and charitable trust, were joined by patron and adoptee Michael Caines, MBE, to officially launch their new Centre for Adoption Support, the Atrium.

Trading Standards donates counterfeit clothes mountain to charity

Around 5,000 seized items of counterfeit clothes have been donated to the charity Planet Zero by Devon, Somerset and Torbay Trading Standards Service.

The mainly counterfeit goods, which include track suits, t-shirts, sweatshirts and trainers, are the result of seizures by trading standards officers across the area.

On Friday trading standards officers packed a lorry bound for the charity, which collects unwanted clothes for a good cause, full of clothes.

The clothes were stored at the service's secure compound in Somerset.
