United Truckers and bibic children visit Devon’s Crealy

On Saturday 8 June, United Truckers organised a convoy of 39 cabs to take children from the Somerset-based charity bibic to visit Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park. Each child and their carer travelled in these monster cabs from Bridgwater, arriving at Devon’s Crealy to enjoy a fun day out for free.

Shirley from United Truckers said: “This is the second year that we have taken our convoy from Bridgwater to Devon’s Crealy. The children from bibic are so inspiring and we are very happy that we are able to do this for them. The cabs always create quite a stir when they are driving down the M5 as it is quite a sight! It is not often that you see 39 cabs driving together in convoy.”

bibic (formerly known as the British Institute for Brain Injured Children) is a charity that provides practical help to families caring for children with conditions like autism, cerebral palsy, Down's syndrome, developmental delay, traumatic and acquired brain injury and specific learning difficulties such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia and dyspraxia. bibic celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2012 and has helped to transform the lives of tens of thousands of disabled children and their families over the past four decades.

Sarah Course from bibic said: “We are really thankful to United Truckers and Devon’s Crealy for arranging this fantastic day out. The work that bibic do is so important to improving the lives of these children and their families. It is great that we are able to take them on such a fun, and unusual day out!”

Chris Down, Chief Executive of Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park said, “Last year was the first time we got involved in the United Truckers convoy. It really is an inspiring day that we are thrilled to be a part of.”

The children from bibic enjoyed Devon’s Crealy’s fun and attractions with over 60 rides and attractions including the newest additions The Safari Express and Jungle Wars, 75,000 sq ft of undercover play and outdoor adventure areas and Summer Soak Zone, there was something for everyone!
