A season’s best for Exeter City Football Club

Exeter City Football Club set a new record for the season against Fleetwood on Saturday – by raising a total of £969.77 for the Poppy Appeal during the half-time bucket collection.

The previous highest total for the current campaign was £926.43, which had been raised for the Adam Stansfield Foundation during the Grecians’ Capital One Cup tie against Championship side Crystal Palace.

St James’ Park hosted a Remembrance silence – which was observed immaculately both the home and away supporters – and an on-field ceremony by the Royal British Legion.  The County Chairman also read the Exhortation after the Last Post was sounded.

Carole Arnold, the Community Fundraiser for the Devon branch of the Royal British Legion, said: “We certainly want to thank Exeter City yet again for allowing us to hold the ceremony, which as usual made me cry.

“It was very moving and the wonderful supporters show their respect to the troops in such a great way.

“We raised £969.77 which was the highest we have ever received at Exeter.”
