Maximus Foundation UK, the not-for-profit arm of Maximus, has awarded a grant of £2,500 to Rock 2 Recovery to help fund free mental health support for veterans and their families.

The charity, based in Exeter, works across the country to support veterans and their immediate family members to adjust to life after the armed forces through specialist one-to-one change management coaching.

Rock 2 Recovery provides free sessions that are designed to support armed forces members and their families with their mental health, offering a practical framework for dealing with stress and anxiety that can arise after leaving the armed forces.

Since the charity's inception in 2015, 16 coaches have supported more than 4,000 clients with an average of eight hours of personalised support each. Demand for the charity’s services is growing, with their number of clients increasing from 506 in 2019 to 923 in 2023. The grant means that Rock 2 Recovery will be able to continue its work, providing an additional 30 free sessions to veterans.

The donation forms part of the Foundation’s latest round of dedicated fundraising to help local charities nationwide. The grant was awarded via a virtual cheque presentation by a Maximus Foundation trustee. Maximus Foundation UK has awarded grant beneficiaries totalling £585,000 since 2015.

Charis Green, Chair of the Maximus Foundation UK, said: “We applaud UK charities whose work changes lives through campaigning, fundraising and support. Rock 2 Recovery are seeing more and more people being referred to their services, so it is vital that support remains accessible. It is amazing to see that through this grant, we can directly support people getting help at a time when they need it most.”

Charlie Hobson, Company Officer at Rock 2 Recovery, said: “We are very grateful to Maximus UK for their generous donation in support of our work. We are receiving a significant number of referrals from Mental Health professionals, so this donation will ensure that at least four individuals will have a better life and that means that four families will have a better life too. That is priceless.”
