Members of the Devon Air Ambulance fundraising team were delighted to receive the Exeter Living Award for local charities on behalf of the organisation on Thursday evening.

The team was up against some worthy competitors locally and were thrilled to have been awarded the accolade. Jo Rigby, Head of Fundraising at Devon Air Ambulance said:

"We are incredibly proud to have received this amazing award from the Exeter Living Awards, 2024. We were up against some fantastic charities, each deserving of such a prestigious award, so thank you to the judging panel who recognised the continuous lifesaving work of Devon Air Ambulance."

Within their entry submission the charity outlined some of the recent highlights including their response in 2023 to a record number of missions totalling 2226 and the growth of their volunteer critical care responder team who attended 79 incidents in their own time to support emergency services teams across Devon. In addition the launch of their very successful 'Mishap Fashion' shop in Cowick Street, Exeter was also noted, this is a shop dedicated to selling hundreds of items with slight imperfections which might otherwise have been recycled and are now raising much needed funds.

As a charity that exists independent of government funding, it is entirely thanks to the support of local communities, groups and organisations that our local air ambulance can continue to respond to patients requiring urgent time-critical care, every day of the year.
