Adam Isaac's new charity single to highlight experiences of young homeless people

Devon singer and TV Star from The Voice, Adam Isaac, has released a charity single which seeks to highlight the experiences of many young people across Britain today who suffer from homelessness. It is estimated that 1 in every 100 young people become homeless at some stage, representing over 75,000 people. Commonly they experience family breakdown and rejection.

Adam Isaac, who recently released his first album Train Tracks, says that he first agreed to write this song in order to make the general public understand the individual stories behind each case of homelessness. “I want people to see that young people who find themselves homeless each have their own background and story which led them to that place. Very often a young person becomes homeless through no fault of their own and I want people to see that and understand that they are people with their own hopes, dreams and ambitions like everyone else. I hope the song really captures that.”

The song was written with input from residents of Exeter YMCA, who have themselves all experienced homelessness. Adam explains; “It was a real privilege to work with the guys from YMCA. Many of the lyrics which ended up in the final song came directly from the young people themselves, which is what I think makes the song feel so real.”

The title of the song is Sleep Easy and is named after the YMCA’s sponsored sleep out event, which happened last month and raised over £24,000 for Exeter YMCA’s work accommodating and supporting local homeless young people.
