‘Win a car for £1’ Christmas winner revealed

The St Loye’s Foundation car raffle, in which Princesshay shoppers have had the chance to win a Peugeot 107 for £1, has raised in excess of £10,000 for the Exeter-based charity. The winning raffle ticket was drawn on Monday 17th December by Exeter’s very own Santa - the Deputy Lord Mayor of Exeter, Cllr Percy Prowse.

The lucky winner, Abbey Cheung of Kingsteignton will receive her brand new car in time for Christmas. The super new car, worth over £7,000 was donated to St Loye’s Foundation by Exeter’s Truscotts Peugeot dealership.

Princesshay shoppers have had the opportunity to enter the raffle since early October with thousands of visitors buying tickets in the hope that they would win this amazing prize. All the £1 donations have totalled in excess of £10,000 which will go towards St Loye’s Positive Opportunities service which helps people with Autism in Exeter and East Devon to access training, volunteering opportunities and employment.

Abbey Cheung, winner of the car raffle, said: “When I was shopping in Princesshay I saw the St Loye’s Foundation car raffle and thought I would enter as it was for a good cause. I bought 10 tickets but it didn’t even cross my mind that I might win the car. To be told that I am the winner is the best Christmas present ever – I can’t wait to go for my first drive in it!”

Sam Patterson, from Truscotts Peugeot dealership, said: “It has been great to be able to support this charity to do its very worthwhile work. All shoppers can be pleased knowing they have been part in raising this money for St Loye’s and we hope that Abbey will enjoy her new car.”

Phil Roberts, from St Loye’s, said: “It has been a hugely successful raffle and we are very grateful to all the people who have supported us. We are pleased with the money raised for the Positive Opportunities project. I and our team of St Loye’s volunteers have enjoyed meeting shoppers whilst we have been in Princesshay over the last 3 months.”

Wayne Pearce, Princesshay Centre Director, said: “Princesshay have been pleased to support this car raffle and we are pleased that the charity has been able to raise a lot of money to continue to make a difference to so many lives.”
