Keeping Public-Facing Worksites Safer, Cleaner and Quieter

Nothing tests public patience quite like a pavement full of barriers, a drill starting at breakfast time and dust. Work has to happen. Shops need refits, roads need repairs, schools need maintenance and hospitals need upgrades. But when a site sits next to people trying to shop, study, rest or work, the way it’s managed matters.

Public-facing worksites sit in the middle of everyday life, which means safety, cleanliness and noise control are not finishing touches. They shape how people feel about the job from day one.

Not Enough Hours in the Day? Consider Virtual Support

With increasing demands on small to medium size businesses it is no surprise that many company directors and owners find themselves drowning in a sea of paperwork. Compared with large companies, small to medium size businesses usually have far fewer resources to help them with their day to day marketing and advertising needs whilst they comply with new demands on their time, for instance the recently introduced Real Time Information (RTI) introduced by HMRC. It is therefore no surprise that the shape of the workforce is changing dramatically with many companies wising up to the increasing...

Last One Out Turn Off The Lights

The announcement recently that Santander are to reduce their in-branch advisers from 874 to 150 nationally follows the trend by the other banks including Lloyds TSB, HSBC, RBS and Barclays in eliminating or hugely reducing the number of advisers they have.

The exit is not only being seen amongst the big players as a number of building societies have also withdrawn from the market. In early 2011 Norwich & Peterborough Building Society sold their sales force to Aviva and ceased to give investment advice to their customers.

One would be forgiven for thinking that there is...

"Send this Idiot the Bedbug letter"

Have you heard the story of the colossal customer-service bungle over the “bedbug letter”? A guest in a hotel finds himself attacked by bedbugs during his stay. He writes an angry letter to the president of the hotel company. Within days, the president sends the guest a heartfelt apology, which reads, in part: “I can assure you that such an event has never occurred before in our hotel. I promise you it will never happen again.” Sounds good, except for one small detail: Included with the apology is the guest’s original letter. Scrawled across the top is the message: “Send this idiot the...
