City businesses cycle for charity

Exeter Business Club’s chosen charity this year is CEDA, the Exeter based organisation that offers learning and social opportunities to disabled adults and children. CEDA’s Craig Bowden, seen here centre left, received a cheque for £1,500 from the club’s secretary Ben Didier.

Every year EBC chooses a city-based charity as their chosen cause. Funds are raised through membership fees and a variety of social events. Club members even joined in CEDA’s recent cycling challenge by riding three static bikes and pedalling away throughout one of their meetings.

Packexe reaches solar energy milestone

Solar installations at Packexe Ltd in Marsh Barton have reached a significant milestone with their generation of more than 10,000 kilowatt hours of clean electricity in a single month.

May 2018 was a particularly sunny month in Exeter and for the very first time Packexe surpassed the 10,000 kwh energy production milestone.

Ten thousand kilowatt hours (or kWh) of clean energy production would offset about 4.49 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions and is enough to power a washing machine for 4,348 loads of washing.

Exeter Chamber of Commerce & Industry has announced that Mark Pellow, a current Vice Chair, has been appointed as the new Chair of the Chamber. Devon businesses make switch to LEDs to tackle energy use

In the last 12 months more than 5,000 LED lights have been fitted in Devon businesses and organisations.

This major energy switch stands to save businesses involved over £100,000 and 439 tonnes of CO2, equivalent to the energy use of an average house for 33 years, according to SunGift Energy Ltd.

Working with Devon businesses, including Westpoint Arena and Pecorama, law firms Ashfords LLP and Stephens Scown as well as six primary schools and three medical practices, SunGift Energy LED projects have saved money, energy and have improved lighting.

Shaun Pike has been appointed as site manager at Minerva - Barratt Homes’ new development in Exeter where work is underway to create a community of 159 new homes.
