Stephens Scown LLP has announced its sponsorship of the Devon International Trade Forum (DITF) event on 10 September 2013, aimed at providing practical advice on exporting for local businesses.

The event, which is being held at the Innovation Centre at Exeter University, starts at 5.30pm, with presentations beginning at 6.45pm and ending at around 8.30pm.

A variety of South West businesses have been invited to speak at the event which has a distinctly international flavour. Ben Travers, Head of Intellectual Property and IT Law at Stephens Scown, is one of the speakers, discussing cost effective ways of protecting your reputation and key IP assets when trading overseas, including issues surrounding the use of distributors and agents. Ben is recognised as a leader in his field by Chambers, the independent legal guide.

With a long history of working with local businesses, Stephens Scown has specialists available to assist companies in various sectors to expand and grow, fulfilling their full trading potential. Advice includes distribution and agency agreements, litigation advice on jurisdictional issues, trade finance agreements (such as letters of credit, bonds and guarantees), execution of documents by foreign companies, as well as IP advice (community trade marks, worldwide trade marks and protection on an international basis).

Tim Sheehan, chairman of the DITF, said: “We are delighted to have Stephens Scown on board as the sponsor of our forthcoming event. The expertise and experience Ben Travers and his team bring to the event will provide interesting listening to delegates, and an opportunity to have some of their questions answered.”

If you are interested in attending this event, please visit the DITF website for more details and to register on-line.
