Stephens Scown appoints mental health specialist

Leading regional law firm, Stephens Scown LLP, continues to develop its commitment to the community by providing aid to the most vulnerable members of our society with the appointment of mental health law specialist, Mostyn Evans.

Mostyn, formerly with Cornish Venning, joins as a Partner within the family law team serving clients nationally. He has nearly 30 years of experience within mental health law, is a long time member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal Panel and has previously sat on the Children Panel and the Personal Injury Panel.

One in four people experience some kind of mental health problem in the course of a year, anxiety and depression are the most common disorders and can impact on every part of an individual’s life: work, home and relationships.  These issues can affect anybody at any age, regardless of their gender, class or creed. There are many aspects of the law that touch patients and their families who are affected by not only issues arising from depression, but also encompassing bi-polar, schizophrenia and beyond.

The appointment of Mostyn Evans strengthens the family law team within Stephens Scown and underlines the firm’s commitment to dealing with not only mental health issues, but also domestic violence and the devastating effects these have on individuals and all those surrounding them. Mostyn represents individuals with issues such as capacity, community care and deprivation of liberty – and also has a particular interest in contract and partnership work, particularly in relation to medical practices.
