Leading Devon legal firm Stephens Scown LLP has recently secured a top funding specialist to boost its renewables team across the region.

Mike Rowe, appointed as consultant with Stephens Scown, brings with him a wealth of experience, including 30 years of blue chip company involvement within the agri-business sector. Much of this experience came through senior management roles within both Barclays Bank and Clydesdale Bank within the South West.

For the last four years, Mike has been running Moorhayes Consultants , a consultancy specialising in the strategic development and funding of renewable energy projects and energy efficiency schemes, as well as providing energy audits to land owners and farm businesses.

Mike has consulted on over 70 renewables projects, advised on strategy within the agri-business sector for a major utility company  and co-authored an energy efficiency guide for one of the big four supermarkets. This experience is proving invaluable to the clients of the renewables team at Stephens Scown.

Sonya Bedford, head of renewable energy law at Stephens Scown, commented: “We are delighted that Mike has joined our growing team. With his expertise within funding for renewables projects, our clients will be best placed to create the most cost effective and appropriate energy schemes possible in Devon and beyond.”

Sonya heads up a team of lawyers dedicated to renewable energy projects across a wide base of specialisms including anaerobic digestion, solar PV, biomass, wind and hydro energy. The team has extensive experience in acting on behalf of developers, farmers, land/property owners and investors on matters such as land agreements, heads of terms, wayleaves, warranties, operational agreements, funding and power purchasing agreements.

Stephens Scown has over 40 partners and 230 staff across its offices in Exeter, Truro and St Austell. For more information visit www.stephens-scown.co.uk
