New direction for Honiton Hotel

A hotel on the outskirts of Honiton announces the arrival of a new Managing Director and its plans for ongoing investment.

The Deer Park Country House Hotel has recently appointed Mark Godfrey, former Managing Director of Harbour Hotels Group, to take the helm of the 25-bedroom hotel.

Mark, whose career in the hospitality industry spans over 25 years, joins the hotel as Managing Director. He will head up the team at the Deer Park and be responsible for overseeing the senior management, the direction of the business and the many projects planned to improve the hotel and grounds.

Mark comments: “I’m thrilled to be a part of the hotel; it’s located in a beautiful setting and has so much potential, it’s a real gem!

“With the work and changes we have planned, our aim is to be known as one of the finest wedding venues in the South West."

Some of the changes have already started to take place, with a huge investment currently being made to the hotel’s grounds. Work has started on the new Italian Garden and feature fountain, which will be due for completion in mid March.

“It’s great to be working with some fantastic local craftsmen and suppliers on the ongoing projects,” said Mark. “Our gardeners and local landscape designers have made an impressive start on improving the grounds, including the Walled Garden, which has been completely transformed and will soon be ready to start planting the first of many crops."

“The beautiful Georgian house and the improvements we are making to the grounds will make the Deer Park the ideal backdrop for exclusive use weddings.

“We’ve also recently been granted a licence for outdoor civil ceremonies in the fabulous Summer House for up to 130 guests which overlooks the croquet lawn.”

Since Mark’s arrival, there have been various events launched, including Grapevine wine tasting dinners, Ladies' Lunch Club, Wedding Catwalk and Cream Tea with Kate Walker Bridal, meanwhile planning is in place for a Corporate Day in conjunction with Outdoor Adventure Consultants.
